May book and update
Here is a link to a sci fi reading list put together by the New York Times reviewer Dave Itzkoff.
This came in handy today, as I'm making a command decision and posting this month's book without any input from anyone, and choosing it somewhat randomly at that. My counterpart has succumbed to a deluge of end of the quarter assignments and such, and so I decided randomly picking a book was better than not having one at all. The leader *was* Giant Bones by Peter S. Beagle, until I did some research and found that it was ridiculously hard to find a copy on short notice. Sorry. Maybe we will schedule it after everyone has a chance to hunt one down. The other factor that went into chosing this month is that since it was only Brian and Lydie and I to discuss last month, I want to pick something that none of us has read. (Hopefully I have at least accomplished that much.)

So now without further ado, and with a blanket disclaimer as to its merits, having been chosen most un-scientifically and on the fly (as it were), the book for the lusty month of May is:

Girl in Landscape by Jonathan Lethem.

It seems to be readily available at Barnes and Nobel:
and Amazon:

Our next meeting is on June 7th.

Please direct any complaints to the Management. We will read them carefully before summarily discarding them.
